Can I get a philosophical exemption in my state? Do I need to practice a certain religion to get a religious exemption? Can my child’s school deny my exemption or question my religious sincerity? Vaccine exemptions are something that are very important to families of children with autism but are different state to state and can be complicated if you don’t know where to start. Our panel of experts has years of experience working with both advocacy groups and individuals to help them navigate the many obstacles around vaccine exemptions. They will be telling you everything you need to know about your vaccine exemption rights and how to find helpful resources in your state.

Our presentation will focus on how to coordinate care in the “medical” setting. Parents and advocates for people diagnosed with autism have difficulty in obtaining medical treatment because of the behavioral diagnosis of Autism. Medical Professionals see only the behaviors. We will review the underlying medical conditions that are found in Autism and how to obtain treatment.
Mark Blaxill
On November 29, 2012, Congress held the first hearing on autism in 10 years. It was a momentous day for our community and it has been said that more hearings will come. In addition, this year the Vaccine Injury Compensation Program (VICP) compensated two new cases for children who developed autism. The members of our panel are some of the many people who have been on the frontlines to witness and to fight for these small victories in Washington. They will be giving an update on what they have been working on and what they see in the future from Congress and from the VICP. There will also be a question and answer section with our panel at the end of their presentation.
Autism is a national emergency but only the tip of the iceberg of a larger crisis of outcomes in the American “health care” system. We spend more, intervene more, vaccinate more wildly and have worse outcomes early in life than our peers in the developed world. We need to move beyond excuses, engage politically and demand change.
Mark, Kim, and Dan will review the year, and then they will debut a new 8-minute video How Mercury Triggered the Age of Autism. We’ll talk with Teresa Conrick about her discovery of the first-born child with an autism diagnosis and the hunt for the Kanner 11.
Mark Blaxill, MBA, is the father of a daughter diagnosed with autism, a long-time director of SafeMinds, Chairman and co-founder of the Canary Party, Editor-at-Large for Age of Autism, and a frequent speaker at autism conferences. He writes often on autism, science and public policy issues for Age of Autism and has published a number of articles, letters and commentaries on autism in journals. He co-authored a book on autism, called The Age of Autism: Mercury, Medicine and a Man-made Epidemic, (Thomas Dunne, September 2010).
Tom Bohager

Aren’t all enzyme products the same? The exciting role of ATP (adenosine triphosphate) in healthy digestion will also be discussed.
Tom Bohager holds a Bachelor’s Degree in holistic nutrition and is the author of Everything You Need to Know About Enzymes (Green Leaf 2008) In 1998 Tom started Enzymedica. In 2008 he founded The Autism Hope Alliance, which connects the Natural Foods Industry to families dealing with autism.
