This report will present findings from a comparison of 30 children with autism and matched
controls on a measure of somatic mutation, levels of elements, volatile organic compounds,
and pesticides, and immunological studies. Initial results support the presence of increased
somatic mutation at statistical significance, toxicant exposure, immune dysregulation, and loss of immune tolerance in children with autism compared to controls.

Dr. Skip Kingston is a BioAnalytical Chemistry Professor, Chemistry and Biochemistry Department, Duquesne University; and Chief Technologist of Applied Isotope Technologies. He spent 15 years at the Natl. Institute of Standards and Technology developing new measurement technologies. He has developed over 10 new methods for detecting reactive speciated toxins and biomarkers, and is applying them in a study of children with ASD and control children.

Licensed Psychologist and Certified School Psychologist, Steven is an expert in Medicaid funding for treatment of disabilities in children including autism spectrum disorders, ADHD and other conditions that cause the child to present challenging behavior at home or in school. Children with disabilities are eligible for this funding regardless of family income in 36 states.

Brain - Body-brain connection, Conference 2013

Symptoms of an inflamed GI tract (including esophagus, stomach, and both small and large intestine) interfere with overall health and impede the effectiveness of behavioral and academic therapies in children with ASD. This talk will review the variety (and often unique manifestations) of GI symptoms frequently seen in this group of poorly communicative children. Importantly, a methodical approach to accurately determining the cause of these treatable conditions will be discussed.

Dr. Krigsman is a pediatrician and board certified pediatric gastroenterologist who has evaluated and treated over 1400 children suffering from autism and a variety of gastrointestinal problems. He maintains offices in both New York City and Austin, Texas, is actively involved in clinical research, and has presented his findings in peer reviewed journals, scientific meetings, and at a congressional hearing dealing with autism and its possible causes.

The couple only went public after getting the formal diagnosis and putting a treatment plan in place. They have become a proud advocates for autism and currently Jacqueline has her own column in Parenting magazine titled, “My New Normal,” through which she shares her experiences in raising a child with autism.
