AutismOne: The Cutting-Edge Autism Conference Announces One in Two Advocacy Debut in Chicago

Advocacy organizations including AutismOne and the Brighton Institute collaborate to protect our children and our future

Today, more than ONE IN TWO children suffers from chronic illness. With vaccines as a forerunner, experts know what the primary triggers are for autism, birth defects, infertility, gut disorders, cancer, and other chronic illnesses, and yet triggers continue. We have the power to create positive change. The ONE IN TWO movement is committed to educating and inspiring millions of parents and future parents to transform their health and to protect and restore the health of their children.

Today, you can turn things around for the better. Today, you can change history. Need the tools? Join us in Chicago on May 21, where we invite you to become part of the solution at the Intercontinental Chicago O’Hare Hotel in Rosemont, IL. In this initial launch event, we will give you the tools to become a changemaker and to inspire others to do the same.

On May 21, let’s rise together to say “enough is enough,” to identify solutions, to inspire activism, and to chart an organized course of action that sends ripples around the world and through generations to come. Years from now, your children and grandchildren will thank you for doing whatever it takes to be there on May 21 in Chicago, remembering how you and your family took a stand for their future.

MAIN SPEAKERS INCLUDE:

Dr. C. Rick Ellis, Ed.D.

Violence in an ASD family does not appear magically. By understanding the dynamics of stress on the ASD family, appropriate interventions can be provided, thus reducing the probability that aggression will occur. After the fact, it is easy to understand why tragedies sometimes occur. To be proactive, parents need to understand that there is always support and/or appropriate interventions available even when stress appears to reach an "unmanageable" level. A biopsychosocial model of ASD family stress and violence prevention will be presented.

Mitochondrial dysfunction a prevalent metabolic abnormalities in autism spectrum disorder (ASD), yet it remains poorly understood. We examined mitochondrial function in immune cell lines and fresh immune cells derived from ASD children. A significant subgroup of immune cells had mitochondrial which became dysfunctional when exposed to reactive oxygen species. These data supports the presence of a unique metabolic endophenotype of ASD children with relatively worse developmental outcomes.
