The Church and Our Children

I am becoming increasingly concerned with the state of the “Christian” churches in this country. While the vast majority of them rightfully concern themselves with the message of salvation through God’s son Jesus Christ, aren’t we also called upon as Christians to care for our planet and those that inhabit the earth? Why is it so hard then, to get the message out that we are poisoning our children and our planet? When I speak to Christians about the vaccine issue, I get the same response: “what about Polio?” Unfortunately, they don’t stick around long enough for the answer. It is simply used as a way to marginalize me and to end the conversation.

I am as passionate about this cause in church as I am in the general public. Many would say that I am relentless. What is concerning me however; is that many of the nation’s pastors seem to be more concerned with the rich doctor’s tithes than they are about our children and environment. In the number of times that I have brought this topic up in conversation at Christian gatherings, I have never been asked to elaborate. Never once have I been asked to explain my stance. It truly is an inconvenient truth that is easier ignored than addressed. In my experience, pastors and elders of the Christian churches seem to be as unwilling to want to learn about this issue as doctors are unwilling to debate me.

Recently I started trying to talk to the many Christian farmers in our area about the hot topic of genetically modified foods and pesticide use. Once again, it seems as if these issues fall on deaf ears. While it is very hard to believe that these farmers actually believe that Monsanto and their ilk would tell them, much less the rest of the concerned citizenry, the truth, it seems as if they too would rather not know the truth and continue with the status quo. A vast majority of the farmers I know are salt of the earth Christians. This willingness to ignore this problem truly concerns me. Aren’t Christians supposed to know all about the truth and pursue truth? Wouldn’t Jesus want to know if we’re poisoning our children and environment?

Recently, a friend of mine that farms in the area stopped by another of my friend’s house that lies adjacent to his fields to warn them that he would be spraying his Round Up herbicide the next day. My friends have an autistic child that is dealing with the toxins injected into him by the medical establishment. The farmer told them that the pesticide wasn’t dangerous, unless of course you wanted to bathe in a vat of it. He was being responsible no doubt by alerting the family of the spraying but was sadly misinformed about the chemical that he was spraying into the environment.

Recently, yet another study was released concerning the devastatingly poisonous chemical we know as Round Up. French scientists reported that a number of Round Up formulations tested at diluted concentrations can alter hormone actions and cause liver cells to die within 24 hours of testing. The toxicity of the formulations was independent of the amount of Glyphosate, the active ingredient in Round Up, suggesting that there is far more reason to be concerned over this chemical herbicide than the herbicide itself.

Glyphosate is dangerous to humans and animals at extremely small doses. Unfortunately it is often tested by itself in regulatory studies to determine if Round Up is toxic. According to this French study, levels of Glyphosate in Round Up formulations are not good indicators of toxicity. The combined ingredients of what makes Round Up dangerous remains unknown because the chemical additives in herbicides are considered trade secrets. The formulations studied were RU Express, Bioforce, Grands Travaux, and Grands Travaux Plus. Round Up resistant crops allow more herbicide to be sprayed upon the fields, and both the seeds and the herbicide are owned by Monsanto.
The Pastors, Farmers, public health officials and doctors that I am referring to here are not bad people, just seriously misinformed. What is sad and infuriatingly troubling is that they don’t seem to want to know the truth. I can personally promise any individual that cares to take the time to educate themselves, that they will be far more concerned with the actions of our government and industry if they do the research.

Perhaps it is easier to just ignore the problem, sometimes I wish I didn’t know what I know. The questions that doctors and public health officials have to ask is: what did I get into this profession for, to walk the industry line, or help humanity? And what our farmers need to ask themselves is: do I continue doing what I do now and jeopardize my children and the planet, or do I make a change, no matter how difficult? What our pastors and church officials need to ask themselves is: is ignoring this issue something that Jesus would approve of? Have I prayed about this, or am I guilty of follwoing the world, something I tell those in my flock not to do? If any pastor in the area would like to speak with me regarding this issue, my e mail is curt@autismfile.com
