Evaluation, Workup, and Treatment – A Comprehensive Review of the Biomedical Approach to Autism
Biomedicine represents a paradigm shift in care, in getting our children appropriate treatment. ASD affects multiple biochemical processes in the body, described as the “vicious cycles”. The biomedical approach concentrates on breaking these vicious cycles through a comprehensive investigation into the sources of the problem, followed by treatment of the causes of the dysfunction.
Dr. Montico provides a preview of what parents should expect from a biomedical evaluation including: initial evaluation, laboratory workup, treatment options, and comprehensive treatment plans.
Dr. Montico is board certified in family medicine and sports medicine. After his son was diagnosed with autism, he began to pursue training in the biomedical approach to ASD. He completed all levels of “Defeat Autism Now” clinician training, and has been treating individuals using this approach since 2007. Dr. Montico offers consultative services using the biomedical approach, at the Holland Biomedical Clinic (located in the Minneapolis area) as part of a multidisciplinary team at the Holland Center.
