Executive Function and the Frontal Lobe

This presentation focuses on understanding brain-behavior relationships. The following behavioral constructs will be discussed in relationship to features of autism: attention; memory; language; visual-spatial functioning; executive functioning, and the impact of emotional functioning. Assessment procedures and recommendations will be presented to address each construct. The presentation will include a discussion period.

Mary Joann Lang, RN, PhD, ABPN, BCBA-D

Dr. Mary Joann Lang is the founder and CEO of Beacon Day School for Children with Autism and Related Disorders and of Beacon Autistic Spectrum Independence Center, which is an in-home therapy program, as well as the founder and executive director of the nonprofit Beacon Life Project. Dr. Lang served as a professor at Azusa Pacific University in the Department of Counseling and School Psychology. She has conducted research on parental attitudes towards sexuality and adolescents with ASD.
