Pulling Out the Stops: Rachel's Transformative Journey to Self-Discovery

Rachel Spidalette, who was diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder at age 2, will reveal how exercise became the gateway to success. Partnered with Coach Dave, she will share her journey, exercises, and her mission to change the perception and expectations in the autism community.

David S. Geslak, “Coach Dave,” has become widely recognized in the autism community for his affection to the community, dynamic presentations and for the pioneering of structured visual exercise programs. He has trained professionals throughout the world on the his protocols, authored three books, hosts a TV show on The Autism Channel, and provides jobs for individuals with autism. The autism community has enthusiastically embraced Dave’s message and is especially encouraged by his results.

Rachel is as inspirational 17-year-old student at Acacia Academy. She was first diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder at age two, shortly after she lost her ability to speak. Rachel received traditional therapies and attended Giant Steps until sixth grade, when she self-identified that she would like to switch schools to expand her social-communication opportunities.
In 2010, Rachel began exercising with Coach Dave and started a weekly exercise routine. The benefits she received from exercise have given her a newfound confidence, improved fitness and greater self-esteem. She is now employed as a Champion of the Exercise Connection where she co-hosts the Coach Dave TV Show to educate parents, professionals and her peers about the benefits of exercise.
