We are under an epidemic red alert with autism not only in the United States but around the world. In the US by the year 2032, 1 child out of every 2 is projected to be autistic! That's a scary thought, but a relieving one is knowing that we can be in control of this. Thousands of families have recovered their children from the symptoms known as autism, losing their diagnosis and thriving in all the areas they weren't “supposed to.” You can see from firsthand experience in our documentary, Restoring Balance: Autism Recovery, how the doctors and families accomplished these amazing feats. The cornerstone of these miraculous recoveries is of course one of the most ancient...our food.

Through interviews with parents, children, and practitioners, audiences explore how biomedical and dietary interventions are dramatically changing how children have achieved new levels of connectivity. While recovery looks different for each family and each child, some children are actually losing their autism diagnosis through these applied interventions.

These children show us the potential of all affected by this condition to change their reality.

Four-time Emmy award-winning animator Charlie Canfield is the Animation Director with 3 supporting animation students from Actors for Autism under him. The animation will blend art with these complex concepts into an easily digestible form so more parents and practitioners can understand these biological mechanisms on a deeper level. This will translate to a motivational, and entertaining blueprint for those in need!

The screenings will connect local families with the type of autism literate doctors they need to start the recovery journey. These screenings and meetings will all lead back to a web hub of sharing resources, blogs, and even mentor programs. The practitioners in the movie will be able to hold online meetings with parents and educating other doctors. Believe in Autism Recovery...

After the screening, a panel discussion follows with the filmmaker and doctors and parents speaking at the conference.

About the Filmmaker
Ryan Hetrick is a producer/director, teacher, & high performance coach that has worked in the behavioral health field with a focus on autism for more than a decade. After years working with children on the autism spectrum, Ryan was motivated to make this documentary. He saw firsthand the difference that dietary and biomedical therapies can have in helping kids reach their full potential.

One of Ryan’s behavioral clients became his first biomedical experience which put him in awe to the powers of addressing things form the inside out compared to outside in. Ryan was able to alleviate a medial condition of his own by going organic and gluten-, dairy-, and egg-free himself. With the personal changes he experienced along with the changes he witnessed in the child he decided these stories needed to be told and there was much more to this than appeared on the surface.

Ryan teaches courses in acting, writing, and film editing for students the nonprofit organization Actors for Autism. While in Los Angeles, Ryan became a health and nutrition coach, working with teens and young adults on the autism spectrum. The goal of the documentary is to provide resources and opportunities for families and practitioners to be educated on the process of autism recovery.
