CranioSacral Therapy: Its Role in Autism Recovery & Childhood Development

As a result of the ever-growing number of children being diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorders, we are increasingly faced with providing care to children with these complex disorders. Craniosacral Therapy (CST) is a gentle, hands-on method that enhances the functioning of the physiological body system and is used to bolster resistance to a wide range of medical problems associated with autism. We will examine childhood development and the role of CST in the recovery of autism.

Craniosacral Therapy (CST): Understanding its Effect on Brain & Body Function

CST, a gentle manual therapy, stretches and mobilizes tight soft tissues. Autism spectrum issues of both gut and brain inflammation may be one cause of these tissue restrictions and abnormal force and tension. Under these conditions, the underlying organs and body structures do not work as efficiently in fluid and waste exchange. Behavioral challenges can be associated with specific strains on brain or body areas. History, technique overview, and several case studies will be presented.

Ms. Kratz received professional training at Indiana University and has practiced occupational therapy for 28 years. She holds clinical certifications in sensory integration, listening therapy, neurodevelopmental treatment, and craniosacral therapy (CST). She is an Advanced Practitioner of CST. For the past 12 years, she has observed significant clinical effectiveness using CST techniques for a wide variety of neurological and physical ailments. She is in private practice in Wisconsin.
