Detox behaviors??

I need some words of wisdom from parents who have "been there." Our 4-year-old son has been on the GFCF diet for 4 months now, and has shown improvement. In the past 2 weeks I have started to wean him gradually off soy, and have also started to increase the amount of leafy green vegetables (spinach, kale), and other veggies in his diet. I am primarily going with raw foods (fruits and veggies) over cooked.

In the past few days, I am seeing some concerning behaviors, and I am inclined to think they are related to his diet. He is more anxious and tantrums more easily, hyperactive at times, more obstinate (favourite word is "no"), decreased eye contact/attention span and is using alot of nonsense words/ odd sounds in his vocabulary. He is normally very verbal and coherent. On the bright side, his chronic diarrhea seems to be improving.

My questions are, does anyone know if raw foods can cause a die-off of candida? Has anyone else seen similar behavior changes when trying a more raw food based diet? Should I keep going and hope for his symptoms to normalize, or should I back off?

I know this is very likely a healing reaction from detoxing, but it is still very hard to watch. Regression is a scary thing....

Try cooking all his foods.

Try cooking all his foods. Depending on how severe his gastrointestinal issues are, he may not be able to tolerate uncooked foods. Have you read the book BREAKING THE VICIOUS CYCLE about the Specific Carbohydrate Diet? Even if you don't do that diet, it still explains about the body being unable to process raw foods at first. My son cannot tolerate raw foods yet, so I cook all his foods. Might be worth a try, and see if you see a change.

Is your son on any vitamin

Is your son on any vitamin and mineral supplements and or any medication for yeast or chelation? I've learned through my twin 5 year old boys experience that when they are detoxing, they regress and have very hyper, aggressive and impulsive behaviour, and at times waking at night. Our DAN doctor explained to me once that he wished this was a downhill ski race, but in fact, it is more like skiing cross country, where you wind sideways and every which way. Basically, this is how treatment goes. They are healing regressions, and you see little breakthroughs every so often. I have never implemented a raw vegetable diet so I don't know if that can cause a die off, but anything is possible I guess.
