All too many parents with children on the spectrum can only dream of a life without meltdowns, temper tantrums, sleepless nights, repeated bargaining, interrupted meal times and on and on. But via the Spectacular Bond program, that dream can become reality. It starts by helping the parent a. to see the overwhelming complexity that the everyday world poses for the child and b. to simplify that world—both physically and interpersonally. Then focusing on the neglected realm of inhibition, the program builds patterns of slow, effective behavior into all major aspects of the child’s life--eating, dressing, playing, etc... Within a few weeks, the child displays more effective interpersonal patterns that include greater calm, reduced tuning out, and diminished tantruming. This base is crucial in enabling the child to be open to learning from others, thereby benefiting more fully from the intervention programs s/he receives.
