Who is the Layperson to believe? Is there A Doctor in the house? Autism Prevalence Questions

No matter what is said here or anywhere, it does not change the fact that there is an Autism Crisis. I am always open minded to learn and grow. The basis of my Autism education is through the highly criticized lens of Google University. I would say my 7 years of intensive and indepth study of books, conferences, meetings, speeches, CD's DVD's, flyers, and personal conversations with experts qualifies me as an equal to most of those with PHD's. Many who have not had any formal classroom training on autism but just hide behind their Title.

The mystery today is that I shout from the mountain tops that the statistic that is used by the public domain to account for the prevalence of Autism is 1 in 150. From my research that figure is now approaching 15 years old. It was derived from analysis of records in 2002 of 8 year olds. Please check my math 2009 -2002 = 7 years then add 8 more. 7 + 8 = 15. So I have been highly critical of the CDC which is supposed to give us that information.

Ok Everybody play along... Go to Google do a search for "Autism Prevalence CDC" With and without quotations, it comes up with everybody saying the rate is 1 in 150. Not just blog and news sites. The "Official Mainstream" medical sites like CDC AMA NIMH and others. Now to a lay person that seems to be where the chips fall. It seems like they could not be bothered to count for 15 years.

Well this morning I was doing my early morning ritual of reviewing the latest news, articles, research, and blogs and came across this link at about.com "Is Autism on the Rise?" http://autism.about.com/od/causesofautism/p/ontherise.htm
It says...

"In 2006, the CDC conducted a large-scale survey to better understand the prevelance of autism in the United States. They found that about 300,000 individuals -- or one in every 166 people -- had been diagnosed on the autism spectrum. They also found that there was a slight decrease in the incidence of autism diagnoses since 1999."

I know I read that article back in May and just kind of glossed over the fact because I know we used to use that stat. But then Dr Harvey Karp Mouthpiece for the mainstream Medical establishment wrote this on the Huffington Post on June 10th 2009

"If a foreign government were suspected of doing something that caused brain problems to 1/166 American children our nation would immediately and vigorously respond...and even go to war! Well, our children are under a mysterious assault that is causing 1/166 to develop autism. And, we must band together and immediately and vigorously make the correction of this problem a true national priority."

There it was in bright lights... Going backwards in statistics. How could he be that ignorant I shouted. We give out 15 year old stats and now we are going back further. Well I guess he does know more that me. What he is not being honest and open about is the the details.

I mean that if Autism Rates are falling, then where are the headlines stating the mercury Thimerosal preservative that is still used in mfg process, adult vaccines, and exported when removed... Rates declined. For years they shouted .... LOOK rates are still going up... Mercury could not be a factor.

Welll folks again I am just a simple dad from the cornfields of Illinois. If someone with those fancy letters can give me a different take let me know. Damn it the head line should be out there for both directions. Do you agree?

I do apologise Dr. Karp.... Now lets get to the bottom of the Autism Crisis and help those on the spectrum.
