Some Surprising Unexpected Moments

Last night around ten in the evening, I was flipping thought the television channels.
I happened to come across the Chelsey Handler Show and she was just introducing her guest appearance Jenny McCarthey. Chelsey and Jenny are friends, both funny, and open in the stories they were sharing. Recently, Chelsey was visiting Jenny’s home and Evan, Jennys son was playing outside and went, for lack of another “ACCEPTABLE WORD,” pee pee in the bushes. Chelsey was a little taken back by this type of behavior, but had a good laugh about it. “Jenny said,” Yep that’s my boy,”and went on to tell another pee pee story. She took her son to the doctor’s office for his annual checkup and to her amazement Evan peed into a fake tree in the waiting room.

This sparked some of my own personal pee pee memories, and I thought I would share some of them with you. From my past experience, I have learned once a lesson was taught, I found it very difficult to un-teach that very lesson to my child. When my son was about four years old, we were watching my husband play in a softball tournament. Okay, not really, I was chasing Jordan for two hours trying to keep him off the field, while the game was in play- "TALK ABOUT STRESS! " Anyway, after the game Jordan had to go pee pee, “so Rick my husband said, I will bring him over behind the bushes.” There were no bathrooms and that’s what softball players do-use the bushes in the park.

We’ll here’s my story. Jordan and I are in Blockbuster and I’m picking up a few videos. As I look over my shoulder I noticed my son Jordan had disappeared. Frantically, I am searching the store worried that someone might have walked off with him or he left on his own. He was very quick and it only took only a second before he could be half way around the block. Running toward the front door of the store, I saw Jordan! “Thank God.”

Right before my eyes, he pulls his pants down and starts peeing where people are entering the front door of the store. Oh My God, I was so embarrassed. I put down the videos and I apologized to the manager of the store and the people who had entered the store. “Oh the looks.” I could write a book on their expressions. Oh well, what is a mom to do?

What did I learn from this situation? I learned you have to teach things correctly the first time around, or there will be surprising moments with unplanned activities.
