Hi Jennifer,

Thank you for the response....Thinking about what you said, when you're a mom, you just do what you have to do right, I believe I had great intuition and I just followed it.
Thankfully everything just turned out for my child!

Dear Jennifer,

I wanted to welcome you to the Autism One.
By becoming an active participant you can support and inspire others. Your sharing experience can lift other parents to help them move forward on this path. Autism can be challenging and puzzling. You can make a difference; together we can effectively resolve issues in a collaborative manner by addressing questions and providing feedback.
My son Jordan has made remarkable progress so please don’t ever give up hope!
Feel free to share your thoughts, stories and wisdom for we are all in this together.
To quote, Brandi Snyder: “To the world you may be one person, but to one person you may be the world.”
Should you need any further assistance or information, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Hi Jennifer
Let me extend to you my personal welcome to our AutismOne Social Network.
First I want to comment about your profile entries. I certainly admire your attitude as expressed in "Why I am part of the community." That's wonderful. Also, noting that you list one of your occupations as "blogger" please feel free to "go at it" on our site. :-) Finally, that is a very nice picture of yourself you've posted.
Now on with the "greeting." AutismOne is now the “one-stop-shopping center” for information about autism. We have the annual conference in Chicago, AutismOne radio, the Elizabeth Birt Center for Autism Law and Advocacy and now the AutismOne Social Network (and more to come).
Thank you for filling in your profile entries as these help people with common interests find you.
Helping you interact with others is one of the many things we can do for you. Now here’s something you can do for us. Every new community requires a good hard kick start to get going. We need you to help us with that. Log in on a regular basis and read the blogs and articles then write a blog yourself. It can be on any subject of interest to you, preferably with some relevance to autism but not necessarily. It can be short or long, whatever it takes for you to express your thoughts. If you have a question then ask it in a blog--people read then they respond. If you see something with which you agree or disagree then please add a comment with your thoughts. This is an open community designed to help and support. We like to hear all sides.
I am looking forward to reading your opinions in future blogs and/or articles.
With my best regards
Will Price, CFO

A Little About Me:

I am a married, mother of 2. My 10-year-old son was diagnosed with autism in November 2008. My 8-year-old daughter doesn't have autism, but her childhood has been stolen by it just the same. Our family needs recovery. I'll take any scrap of it I can get.

Why I am a Part of the AutismOne Community:

Our son has been on the gfcf diet for years, but we've recently committed to pursuing further biomedical interventions. I will never understand why that makes us crazy or gullible or stupid, and accepting what mainstream has to offer, which is nothing and condescension, isn't.

What I am Here For:
To connect with likeminded families and advocates.
My Daily Motivations:

To achieve the best quality of life for everyone in my family.

Goals:
To go back to college and not have to think about autism so much.
Activities:
Blogging: http://www.filletthecoarse.com/ It's not intended to be a dedicated autism site, but it's mostly autism stuff. I also get a sick joy out of covering the weirdest of weird news at another inappropriate site I run that I won't link to here.
Hobbies:
I've gotten quite good at home improvement, since our house is in a constant state of remodeling to accommodate my son. When I can get out I prefer going junking with my friend who doesn't have an interest in autism beyond my family and finding sturdy pieces of old furniture I can refinish and reinforce to use in my home.
Books / Magazines:
I know too much about Hunter S. Thompson. I adore James Frey and Joan Didion.
Quotes:
"Wouldn't it be great,as Scott Peck suggests, if all medical students had to undergo the symptoms and feeling of a spectrum of illnesses. From acute infections to terminal cancer - and Kuru, the laughing sickness. Just a month for each exposure, controlled of course, and a good heavy dose of excruciating pain. So they'll know what that feels like." — William S. Burroughs (Last Words: The Final Journals)
Music:
Black Keys, Ben Harper, Mumford and Sons, Local H, Bob Dylan
TV Shows:
Sunny, Breaking Bad, The Killing, Mad Men, 75% of the crap of Bravo
