Laura - Thank you, but it's not my birthday. Somehow Facebook has the wrong day. I'll need to change it, but if you've already sent an expensive gift I'm sure I'll enjoy it and also the gift you send on my real birthday : ).
Your bud
Happy Birthday Ed! Hope your year is filled with good health, happiness and healing!
Love and Admiration,
Laura
To Whom it may concern:
My name is Sara Mae Hickey, and I am a sophomore at Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, New York. I am extremely interested in funding a research project focused on determining the cause of autism. I am currently in the process of applying for a $10,000 grant through the Kathryn Wasserman Davis Foundation. Every year, the Davis Foundation funds one-hundred Projects for Peace (more information can be found at this website: http://www.davisprojectsforpeace.org/).
It is my hope to find a group of researchers who are willing to work with me, and possibly create a research project in which I can take part. If this is not possible, I'm also willing to donate the entire $10,000 to a program that already exists, so long as I could somehow take part in the research throughout the summer of 2010.
Please let me know, as soon as possible, if AutismOne would be interested in this proposal.
Best,
Sara Mae Hickey

Thank you Ed:
That is a great shot...and tells the truth of you...your commitment and love to your child!
Again...as my site indicates...poking my head out, have been reading for a year. Mainly how to help my son navigate puberty, and thar...she blows.
As Kolin is as tall as me, in sixth grade, and have to fight to ensure the IEP, BTP and transition plan fit with what...Kolin sees as his feature...namely a computer geek, with his own place, driving his own car, makes his own money, makes his own food and can make his own rules.
Who am I to argue with that...
Andrea
Hi Ed,
I'm intrigued by your knowledge of art as an outlet for those with autism. I just started a group called Art for Autism, and would really appreciate your input. Join me in getting meaningful conversation going about art therapy!
Thanks,
Kristin
There are thousands of autism artists – enough great artists to sustain permanent galleries in NY, Chicago, LA and Dallas simultaneously.
I know the gentleman you are referring to – metal sculpture. I do not remember his name of the top of my head, but will get it for you.
The art gallery I’m thinking about would be both physical and online. The arts festival at the conference next year will be expanded and we will also be putting together a cyber gallery.
Ed, you mentioned to a parent that you thinking of creating a gallery? Would that be something physical or online? Art is a way in which some people with Autism speak and even sing.
I spoke to a man with Autism at the conference that did magnificent metal sculpture. While he was talking about his craft there was no Autism; it was not even a topic. It was just me and him sharing our passion for fine art. He knew everything there was to know about metal and I was totally hooked.
Actually, do you have his name?
Do you think there is a large enough body of work and work of a high enough caliber to sustain a permanent gallery in a place like LA?
Please, Ernestin, you are not a bother. That's why we're here. We plan to add a chat function in the near future.
A chat function for high-functioning teens is a great idea. I think it would need to be moderated. What do you think? Let's discuss it further.
hi. Hate to bother you but here's my question as a mom: is there a chat place for high functioning teens on the spectrum?
No family members added yet.

A diagnosis of autism is not a prognosis of lifelong and forever. Our children get better, many recover given the proper treatments and therapies.

I had a feeling it was not right;)
