Why I am a Part of the AutismOne Community:
My husband and I were very fortunate to find out about the very first Autism One conference right after our son was diagnosed with autism. We've been going ever since. Best autism conference we've ever been to. Nothing like it in KC or anywhere else for that matter.
What I am Here For:
I want to interact with other families. My forte is teaching people about the IEP process. All families need to know how to navigate the special education system and other systems supported by your taxpayer dollars..
Autism Help / Accomplishments:
My full time job is that of an advocate. I am going back to school to work on a masters in Social Work and a BC-ABA.
My Daily Motivations:
My daily motivation is my son. The more I think about what he will need for the long term the more I want to work toward making sure he can be the happiest and most independent person possible.
Goals:
My long term goal is to design an Autism Community Center for Kansas City.
Help Needed:
Looking for the opportunity to interact with families, funders, other advocates and attorneys.
Help to Give:
Special education navigation. All things autism and KC.
