Let me extend to you my personal welcome to our AutismOne Social Network. AutismOne is now the “one-stop-shopping center” for information about autism. We have the annual conference in Chicago, AutismOne radio, the Elizabeth Birt Center for Autism Law and Advocacy, the AutismOne Social Network and the AutismOne Store.

We urge you to log in on a regular basis and read the blogs and articles. If you see something with which you agree or disagree then please add a comment with your thoughts. This is an open community designed to help and support. We like to hear all sides.

Then write a blog, long or short, to express your thoughts or ask a question. I am looking forward to reading your opinions.

With my best regards,
Ed Arranga Executive Director AutismOne.org

A Little About Me:

I am an advocate for families who are living unique life experiences. It is my goal to help lift parents up and remind them that each child is important no matter their ability. Please visit my website, www.KarenKain.com.

Why I am a Part of the AutismOne Community:

In 1994, my daughter Lorrin was severely vaccine injured. My life as I knew it was put “on hold”. In the beginning, I tried everything that I could to “heal” Lorrin and give her the best life possible.

Lorrin and I were forced to over come massive rejection and isolation. I did my best as her parent to navigate thru life and find success as a parent of a unique child. Lorrin was always the teacher. She taught me: life is full of magic, to love myself, not to pass judgment, to be present in the moment whether it be at the hospital or Disneyland. Lorrin lived her life as a quadreplegic, cortically blind, non verbal young lady who had seizures every day, sometimes all day long. She took 6 anti-seizure mediations daily, still having non-stop seizures. Lorrin was also a blond haired blue eyed Pises and loved life, had best friends, loved to shop and had a wicked sense of humor. Lorrin was totally comfortable with who she was and came here to teach.

HHS immediatly agreed that Lorrin was vaccine injured and we settled with vaccine court in 1998. Lorrin died at the age of 15, but her message stays strong.
