Stay-at-Home Moms March
TAKES TO THE STREETS
Way to Go, Steve!
Congratulations, Steve. It's great to have you back home. Steve recently biked 500 miles from San Francisco to Los Angeles, to raise autism awareness. The ride was a tune-up for next year's cross-country extravaganza. I'll let Steve inform you about the trip in detail, but first I have to share with you Steve's route. I know some moms might scratch their heads in disbelief, but like many guys I'm perfectly happy reading maps, visiting a junkyard, or using new power tools.
travolta-ravolta
Dear AutismOne Community -
I would like to take a moment and address the Travolta brouhaha caused by the Waters' recent blogs and several other issues as well.
ABC News picked up the blog and used it to further their own financial interests and sow dissension in our community. Their intent was to draw on the Travolta’s star power to drive ratings - nevermind if the entire report was something only the tabloids would have published 10 years ago. Today, truth, virtue, and serving the greater common good are relics of a bygone era.
CDC quietly revises autism rates to 1% of US children
Given that autism is the number one pediatric health crisis in the world today one could reasonably expect that the CDC would loudly announce – as it does every new case of swine flu – any significant change in rates or cases reported.
Those that follow the CDC’s behavior know, like the SEC and the FDA, the CDC is a badly-compromised government agency and the autism pandemic is largely a product of its flawed policies and practices.
Sorry, Thoughtful House
A friend recently emailed asking my take on the upcoming Dateline program that addresses autism and vaccines.
Here's my take. It will not make much of a difference one way or the other. Let me rephrase that. It will be a feel-good piece for NBC that portrays them to be a "hard-hitting news organization" while at the same time helping advance the pharma mantra of “don’t hesitate – vaccinate!”
Life On the Event Horizon of Autism
Many years I wrote about my son's diagnosis. Twelve years later it was only in the past few months that I realized my behaviors began to mimic my son’s.
Life on the event horizon of autism
“The biggest danger, that of losing oneself, can pass off in the world as quietly as if it were nothing; every other loss, an arm, a leg, five dollars a week, a wife, etc., is bound to be noticed.”
―Søren Kierkegaard
A diagnosis of autism affects each of us deeply. My own reaction was not apparent, at least to me, for more than a year after the diagnosis.

Welcome - Words Win Wars
Greetings! It gives me great pleasure to welcome you. Our new website follows and extends the curve of our founding principles: Parents are, and must remain the driving force of our community, the stakes are too high and the issues too sacred to delegate to outside interests.
The AutismOne conference has always been a conversation of hope recognizing “none of us is smarter than all of us,” while encouraging and embracing independent thought – but, once a year in Chicago is not enough. The conversation needs your thoughts, ideas, and experiences year round.
