The Horse Boy

Official Selection 2009 Sundance Film Festival

How far would you travel to heal someone you love?

The film follows a Texan family of three – husband Rupert, wife Kristen, and their four-year old autistic son, Rowan.  Rowan is prone to distressing fits and the family found that conventional therapies little or no effect. Then they discovered that Rowan has a profound kinship with animals—particularly horses—and the family set off on a journey to shamanic Mongolia which changes their lives forever. The film also features experts within the field, including Dr. Temple Grandin – subject of the recent HBO biopic starring Claire Danes.  In telling one family’s extraordinary story, the film gives voice to the thousands who display amazing courage and creativity everyday in the battle against this mysterious and heartbreaking epidemic. THE HORSE BOY is part travel adventure, part insight into shamanic healing and part intimate look at the autistic mind.

Lynette is patient, kind, and empowering as she recognizes the whole family is in need of restoration. She motivates parents who face complicated issues such as tantrums/aggression/property destruction; obsessions and compulsions; dietary restrictions, mouthing and PICA (eating non-food items); medications and supplement administration; escape artist/unsafe climbing; toilet training/feces smearing and more. Meet Lynette as she is introduced to and helps a new family each week, starts neurofeedback and spends her time teaching the tools necessary to effectively improve dynamics in the home. In addition to autism, neurofeedback with Lynette has helped hundreds of children and adults with varying conditions like ADD, dyslexia, stress, sleep disorders, anxiety, and addiction. Lynette Louise empowers parents to change their lives and the lives of their children for the better. She believes that autism doesn’t have to be a tragedy and that it’s ok to laugh because happiness heals.
