It takes a village, community, State, Country, and world to fix Autism. Thank you ALL.

What a week... WOW! and Whew! It made me stop and count my blessings. It made me realize although we still are not doing everything we can, we do do a lot. It all started last Sunday with the awesome Article in the Champaign News-Gazette http://tinyurl.com/napzje and ended with the crash of my computer network and twitter. It made me slow down and realize, even though it sounds really corny, we are all family. Even the smallest part plays a mighty big role when you are fighting for the brains, souls, and future of the next generation.

Vacation from Autism

My oldest daughter and I took our first vacation away from my wife and my youngest daughter, who is afflicted with PDD-NOS. The separation was toughest on the younger girl, Kaitlyn, because without a doubt her older sister is her “BFF” (Best Friends Forever). Her sad words as we left—“Nicole, I will never see you again”—uttered while tears rolled down her face, still haunt me today.

Am I Pro-Disease?

If one were to listen to the CDC, the AMA, the American Academy of Pediatrics and many of the pharmaceutical controlled media outlets, I am pro-disease. Because I have been involved in what they have inaccurately named, the "anti-vaccine" movement, there is no other option. I am pro-disease. As is the case with so many other hot button issues, there is just black and white. There can be no grey areas. You are either with or against us.

Life On the Event Horizon of Autism

Many years I wrote about my son's diagnosis. Twelve years later it was only in the past few months that I realized my behaviors began to mimic my son’s.

Life on the event horizon of autism

“The biggest danger, that of losing oneself, can pass off in the world as quietly as if it were nothing; every other loss, an arm, a leg, five dollars a week, a wife, etc., is bound to be noticed.”
―Søren Kierkegaard

A diagnosis of autism affects each of us deeply. My own reaction was not apparent, at least to me, for more than a year after the diagnosis.

The Conflict We Are Having With Autism

I think this is the conflict or misunderstanding we are having with autism today. Maybe, we should not use the word autism to describe what is happening to some the kids today. It should be called "vaccine injured" that mimics severe autism symptoms. People with real autism are Bill Gates,Temple Grandin, Alan Turing and the Rain Man. A little quirky but basically geniuses. That is why I'm in Vaccine court created by the government for people that were injured by vaccines.

What Saved My Sanity from the Stresses of Autism Was Yoga

Every parent who has a child with the diagnosis of autism endures hair raising temper tantrums and long sleepless night’s these are daily occurrences for most of us. Feelings of isolation and depression are the norm, and stress is 24/7. I want to share with you what saved my sanity.
Yoga, yes you heard me right the practice of yoga.
I know what you’re thinking, I have no time or you cannot get a babysitter because I said that too! However, there came one point where I knew from the pit of my soul that I must make the time to save my own sanity.

Trying again

I am the same person from the account of Wilowind. My first account would not let me in, so I created another. FYI, this is a dupllicate account so I can access the site. I hope it will let me in once I sign out. I do want to be a part of this site.

New School Year Anxiety

I find myself getting more and more anxious as the new school year approaches. I live in a rural area with teachers in the later stages of their careers. So every year it is the same thing, educate the teacher on what they should already know. Jerrod is in a class of 22 with 4 boys on the spectrum, that is close to 25% or 1 in 4 and the national average is 1 in 150. I know that the accomodations for all of the kids are scary big but I just want a year with fewer "stupid" fights. I know positive attitude is everything but I'm already anticipating battles.

It Just Pisses Me Off!!

When people find out you have a child with autism I hate when they say "God only gives you what you can handle". To me that's like saying "Thank God it ain't me" or "Better you than me" it's a complisult. It just pisses me off!! I do not believe God had anything to do with me having a autistic child. I believe God will punish those who caused my child to be autistic like goverment/pharmasutical. Than there will be justice in the universe!! I do not blame God for having a autistic child. I think God is just as pissed off as I am for destroying the lives of so many of his children!!

One down...one to go

My twins boys just turned 5 in July. My son Spiro is now officially toilet trained. I can't believe it's finally happened! My husband and I are over the moon! He was completely ready and he only had accidents the first day. We even went on a little drive on the second day and I put his little potty in between the middle van seats. Every 1/2 hour I would ask him if he needed to use the potty and he would say yes, so my husband would pull over so he could go. It's amazing when they "get it".
